A Sea of Blue in Support of a Good Cause

November 21, 2018

Many of our school communities participated in National Child Day by wearing blue to school on November 20, 2018.

National Child Day is celebrated in Canada on November 20 in recognition of our country’s commitment to upholding the rights of children and two historic events: the 1959 signing of the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child sets out the rights of children with 54 articles that provide us with a solid roadmap of what is needed to raise healthy and happy children and youth.

Graduating students at École Secondaire Notre Dame High School was particularly enthusiastic about wearing blue since National Child Day is in support of the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre, which has been chosen as the recipient of their annual grad service project.
