World Catholic Education & Ascension Day

May 10, 2018

Today is World Catholic Education Day, as well as Ascension Day!

This year's focus:

All of the schools in our division will be focusing on one of the seven themes of Catholic Social Teaching: Common Good. To seek the common good is to fulfill Jesus’ command to do unto others as we would have them do unto us. Pursuing the common good means working towards the greatest good for all persons. We must love our neighbour locally and globally.

We are wearing blue!

Everyone is encouraged to wear blue in support of Catholic education. Blue signifies constancy, fidelity, genuineness and aspiration and is especially associated with the Blessed Virgin. This is very appropriate as we celebrate Mary during the month of May.

The Ascension of Our Lord:

Jesus Christ is not an "intermission" but a deeper calling, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to continue his mission until He comes again. May the Lord who ascended, continue to bless your whole family, as we walk together in Him, with Him, for Him, and through Him.
