Safety Guidelines

Field trips and Off-Site Activities shall be organized in such a way as to maximize educational benefit and ensure the safety and protection of students. 

Note: Safety guidelines for physical activity in Alberta schools has been replaced by SPHEReS website.

The teacher in charge of activities for students will take the necessary steps to ensure the safety of students participating in such activities. The primary reference for safety expectations and precautions shall be found on the SPHEReS website

Teachers shall assess the risk of all activities and communicate with parents. Off-site activities require a detailed proposal describing risks and risk mitigation strategies for review and approval by the principal prior to engaging in the activity.
