Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Today, we celebrate the miraculous Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
It’s a common misconception that the phrase “Immaculate Conception” refers to the Catholic teaching that the Virgin Mary conceived Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit. The Immaculate Conception of Mary actually refers to Mary’s conception in the womb of her mother, St. Anne. Mary was conceived without the stain of original sin. On this Holy day, let us reflect on how Mary is so filled with the abundance of God's grace that there is no room in her body, in her mind, or in her heart for sin.
