Superintendent Letter to Parents, Guardians, and RDCRS Staff - June 2023
June 12, 2023
Dear Parents, Guardians and RDCRS Staff,
Throughout these final few weeks of June, we have come together to celebrate students as they transition to new beginnings and say farewell to their school communities. We witnessed the joy and excitement of open houses, the laughter and tears of farewell ceremonies, and the immense support for our Grade 12 graduates praying together with their entire student body at school masses. We are thankful to our staff for the time and care they give to these celebrations and to the many families who joined us in support. You can feel the tremendous pride of every parent and family member during all of these celebrations!
Together we journeyed the Division faith theme, “Inspired by Christ on a Journey to Encounter, Nurture and Serve.” We opened ourselves up to be inspired by Christ and aspire to be Christ-like, where we encountered Christ by authentically sharing our faith stories as we continued to develop our relationship with Jesus. We were nurtured by Christ through our school communities as we prayed together during monthly celebrations and masses. Finally, we served others for Christ by living out our faith through serving and helping others, especially those most vulnerable and in need. We walked alongside each other on this journey as we reconnected with our faith.
As we close off another school year, my sincere thanks to all of you for your understanding and support with the new catchment and transportation guidelines. This has been a two-year journey as the result of opening St. Lorenzo Ruiz Middle School. We are thankful to our many stakeholders for their rich feedback as we moved into a more effective, efficient system of transporting students safely to and from school.
We kindly request you to register your child for transportation for the 2023-2024 school year by June 15, 2023 to allow us enough time for route planning and ensure our students are transported in the most efficient manner. Please note that if you miss the June 15 deadline, a $50 late fee will be applied.
Registration for school bus service is required every school year in order to meet families' needs annually. To register your child for school bus service, please follow the instructions provided below:
- Access the Division website at www.rdcrs.ca.
- Select the Transportation Tab at the top of the page.
- Select School Bus Registration.
- Select Register to fill out the form link.
- You must re-register for busing when address changes occur OR if your child’s school of attendance has changed.
- After June 15th, 2023, a late fee of $50 per student will be applied.
Students living less than 2.4 km from their catchment school will be assessed a transportation fee payable with school fees. Please note, students must ride their registered bus.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter. Your commitment to registering for the school bus service annually plays a vital role in creating a safe and efficient transportation system for all students.
God’s blessings as you begin to think about the summer holidays. We pray for our students as they prepare for final exams. Fill their hearts with peace that only comes from God. Give them clarity of thought and guide them to apply the learning from their educators.
God bless,
Dr. Kathleen Finnigan
Superintendent
