Catholic Education Week - Friday
The subtheme for today is Appeals to Hope- To be agents of social justice.
Over and over again in the Old and New Testaments, we are invited to rejoice – to be people of joy, a spiritual joy that is more than just a fleeting happiness or a superficial kind of optimism. True joy is grounded in the knowledge that we are lovable – and we are loved. And when that joy takes root in us, it radiates outward, to touch others and lift them up as well. Real joy makes our world a better place for all of us. It scatters darkness and gives hope. When the individuals around us look to us as people of faith, is joy the first thing they notice? Do they see us as people who have experienced God’s love in our own lives, and want to share it generously with others? Do we seek to bring God’s gentle joy into situations of struggle and uncertainty, of suffering and loneliness? How does joy bring a different “flavour” to our loving?
