Sunday of Divine Mercy
The Second Sunday of Easter–the final day of the Easter Octave–was inaugurated as Divine Mercy Sunday by Saint John Paul II during his homily for the canonization of St. Faustina Kowalska, April 30, 2000. St. Faustina received extraordinary messages from Jesus. Jesus asked St. Faustina to record these experiences, which she compiled into notebooks.
These notebooks contain God's loving message of Divine Mercy. Today, we continue to rely on St. Faustina as a constant reminder of the message to trust in Jesus' endless mercy and to live life mercifully toward others.
