Today marks the beginning of our Advent journey. Advent is a time of preparation before Christmas day.
The word Advent comes from the Latin advenio, "to come to," and refers to the coming of Christ. We light the first purple candle of the Advent wreath, the colour of penance, and the candle of Hope.
