The Fifth Day of Christmas
"The Twelve Days of Christmas" was written in England as one of the "catechism songs" to help young Catholics learn parts of their faith during the time of King Henry VIII.
The five golden rings represented the first five books of the Old Testament - the Pentateuch. These books tell the history of man from the creation to the time of Moses and the expectation of the Messiah that was accomplished in the birth of Our Lord, which describe man's fall into sin and the great love of God in sending a Saviour.
