It's Corpus Christi
Today we celebrate The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ or Corpus Christi. It is a solemn commemoration of the institution of the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
It is, moreover, the Church's official act of homage and joyful gratitude to Christ, who by instituting the Holy Eucharist gave to the Church her greatest devotion. "In breaking bread for his disciples, Christ gave us an example of what it means to allow oneself to be broken for the good of others," Pope Francis said on the feast of Corpus Christi (2016) explaining that it is the Eucharist which gives us the strength to do this. May we allow ourselves to be broken for the good of others - receiving strength from the Eucharist - to be the hands and feet of Christ for the world.
