Congratulations on your retirement, Rose McQuay!
As we near the end of another school year, we would like to take some time to thank staff who will are retiring. First up this week is St. Gregory the Great Catholic School Principal Rose McQuay.
"As I finish 35 years with RDCRS, I would like to express my gratitude to the incredible school communities of St. Teresa, St. Elizabeth, St. Thomas, Mother Teresa, St. Marguerite, Holy Family, Notre Dame, and St. Gregory the Great as well as the amazing admin teams in these schools, and throughout the division, for the wonderful memories.
During my years as an educator, I have been fortunate enough to not only accomplish but exceed all of my career goals. This would not have been possible without the phenomenal staff, students, families and administrators I worked alongside in the 10 school communities I had the privilege of being a part of. You welcomed me with open hearts, have supported me through the highs and the lows and are the reason I cherish every minute of the past 35 years.
It has been an honour to serve as an administrator from PreK to Gr. 12, for the past 13 years, and I am so grateful to be able to come full circle and end my career at St. Gregory the Great, who was up until 6 years ago part of my first school community, St. Teresa of Avila. We have both come a long way!
Lastly, I would like to thank my family who shared, supported and inspired me to be the best I could be. In retirement, I look forward to focusing all of my attention on them, traveling, spending more time at the lake, volunteering for remarkable organizations who support children, such as the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre and I’m beyond excited to welcome our second granddaughter in September.
I wish you all the best and will greatly miss being part of education, on a daily basis, but I am blessed that I will have a front row seat as my children and the next generation of educators carry on where I left off."
