Happy retirement, Michelle Khatib
Today, we celebrate another of our recent retirees, Michelle Khatib.
Michelle started her teaching career 34 years ago with Calgary Catholic in 1989, at the age of 21. Two years later she married the love of her life, Dave Khatib, and then had two amazing girls Kirsten and Haley.
She was hired by Red Deer Catholic and took on various roles as a K-12 teacher, counsellor, curriculum coordinator, and administrator. Michelle completed her Master of Educational Technology with the University of Alberta, her Quest Program with City University, and her Graduate Certificate in Catholic School Administration from Newman College. She later worked with Chinook's Edge as the Director of Educational Technology, taught technology undergraduate courses at Red Deer College, as well as Master's courses with City University.
Michelle returned to Red Deer Catholic and recently worked at Ecole Mother Teresa School in Sylvan Lake where she will truly miss this amazing school community.
Michelle was selected for the Catholic Women's Leadership Foundation where she represented the CWL from Sacred Heart Parish at a National Level. Michelle has been instrumental in many organizations such as serving on the executive for ATLE and BlendEd and the Board for the Alberta Science Network. She has spoken nationally and internationally at various conferences and has presented to the Taiwan Ministry of Education and Foreign Affairs on technology integration.
Michelle retired in March to spend time with her retired husband and to care for her grandkids! She wishes to thank God for leading her to a career that allowed her to teach her faith, as well as her husband and family for all the support over the years. She will treasure the wonderful memories of working with so many wonderful staff at Red Deer Catholic over the past 25 years and wishes you all the best.
